SIR Rod Stewart will perform at Molineux next year and it will be the first concert hosted at the football stadium since 2003.

The legendary crooner is hitting the road to celebrate the release of his 30th studio album, Blood Red Roses.

Fans can catch him at the Wolves ground on Saturday, June 8.

Wolves managing director, Laurie Dalrymple, said: “It has been 15 years since Molineux hosted a live music event, so today’s announcement is very significant for both Wolves and the city of Wolverhampton.

“Attracting top performers like Rod Stewart to Wolverhampton is part of our wider strategic plan to make Molineux a multi-purpose entertainment destination that welcomes visitors from the city and further afield.

“We will work closely with the City Council to ensure a successful event that drives local economy whilst being considerate to residents.”

Tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday, September 21 from ticketmaster.co.uk - but before that there will be two pre-sale windows.

The first pre-sale will be at 9am on Wednesday, September 19 and can be accessed by pre-ordering Rod’s new album Blood Red Roses from hmv.com, whilst season ticket holders and members will be able to pre-order tickets at 9am on Thursday 20th September. More information on how to do this will be emailed to those eligible next week.

Rod’s 2019 shows promise to be filled with both classics and new hits in his dazzling signature style. As one of the best-selling artists in the history of recorded music, with more than 200 million records sold worldwide, his performance will include show stopping classics from his glittering career.

Concert-goers will be treated to tracks from his soon to be released new album Blood Red Roses - a deeply personal 13-track collection of originals and three covers – which is released almost 50 years to the date from when he signed his very first solo recording contract.
