BLACK Country comedy star Jacky Fellows of The Fizzogs has raised more than £1,000 for charity after completing her first triathlon.

Gutsy Jacky, a member of the global internet sensation The Fizzogs - famed for their Dancing Grannies act, swam a mile across Netherton Reservoir, took on a 25-mile bike ride and ran six miles to the finish line at The Mitre pub in Stourbridge when she took on the Olympic style challenge in aid of the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity last Saturday (September 15).

Despite a disastrous training session the week before the triathlon, in which her goggles broke and her spare pair fogged up causing her to lose her way in the reservoir, Jacky completed the swim in 36:56.

The bike ride took a further two hours and ten minutes, and she completed the run in 1:10.

Jacky, who hosts the Friday breakfast show on Black Country Radio with fellow Fizzog comedy stars Deb Nicholls and Sue Hawkins, said: "The support was brilliant with Sue and Deb following in the car shouting encouragement."

And she added: "I’ve been amazed by the generosity of people throughout the training and the event."

She said she received more than 500 messages of support from people on social media and the challenge has raised £1,171 for the Midlands Air Ambulance.
