THE household waste recycling centre in Stourbridge will close for a day later this month for essential maintenance work.

The tip, on Stourbridge Road, will be shut all day on Thursday, October 25.

The closure is to allow for work to be done repairing surfaces and replacing bollards at the Dudley Council-owned site.

It is expected to be open for business as normal the next day, with residents urged to use alternative facilities at Anchor Lane in Wolverhampton on the day the site is closed.

Councillor Khurshid Ahmed, cabinet member for environmental services, said: "The closure is to allow for essential maintenance work at the site to make it safer for residents driving in and out of it.

"Alternative facilities are available on that day at Anchor Lane.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused."

Aside from the closure, the tip is open daily from 8am to 4pm apart from on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
