PATROLS by police have been stepped up in Gornal, following a fatal stabbing 

A fourth man has been arrested on suspicion of murder, after a 34-year-old man was stabbed to death in Dudley.

A 20-year-old man was arrested in West Bromwich on suspicion of murder last night (December 5), alongside a a 21-year-old woman who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

They both remain in police custody for questioning.

A 34-year-old was stabbed to death on Central Drive, Lower Gornal on Tuesday night (December 4).

Three men, aged 32, 36 and 41 were arrested on suspicion of murder and all three have since been released pending further investigation.

Police were called just after 9.30pm on Tuesday night by a member of the public reporting a vehicle being rammed into a building on Central Drive and two men being chased by group carrying weapons.

One of the men managed to flee the scene but the other man was found critically injured having suffered stab wounds and he was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Detective Inspector Jim Colclough, from West Midlands Police's homicide unit, said: "These arrests are another positive step but we are still working hard to piece together what took place on Tuesday night.

"We would encourage anyone who has any information which they believe would assist our investigation to get in touch.

"We have stepped up patrols in the area to reassure members of the community.

"Violent crime has no place in our borough and we will continue to work tirelessly with partners and local people to tackle the harm and misery it causes to families, friends and the wider community."
