A NEW cafe is set to open at Priory Park next year and prospective business owners are being sought to run the new addition to the historic Dudley park.

Bids are now open for an experienced entrepreneur to run the cafe, which if successful, will open in Spring 2019.

The café will based in the Priory pavilion building and will be close to Priory Hall register office, the play area and tennis courts.

Bids are being taken for a five year lease on the site and applications are welcomed from people with catering experience and an interest in community engagement.

Councillor Khurshid Ahmed, cabinet member for environmental service, said: "Priory Park is a really popular location, with more than 400,000 visitors a year and this new café is a great opportunity to run your own business in this beautiful historic setting.

"There are activities in the park throughout the year, as well as regular visits from walkers, families, people using the sports facilities and wedding parties and we believe that creating a café here will benefit users of the park and the wider community."

The closing date for applications is Thursday December 20 and interviews will take place in January 2019.
