A FORMER harbourmaster has donated part of his epic retirement gift to Rhyl lifeboat station.
In May this year, Arthur Davies set off on a 501 nautical mile journey along canals, rivers and the coast to circumnavigate Wales that would see him brave Storm Hector in the 6ft 10ins-wide sailing boat ‘The Yacht Scooby’.
Mr Davies, who retired as harbourmaster at Rhyl in March after for four and a half years, undertook the voyage to raise money for the RNLI's Shannon boat appeal, along with wife Sandra Davies, friend Annie Grace, and neighbour Tony Parvin.
The epic voyage duly completed, Arthur, 65, and Sandra recently visited the station to present a cheque for £200 to Rhyl RNLI chairman David Simmons.
Mr Simmons said: "We are extremely grateful to Arthur and his shipmates for this generous donation to our Shannon Appeal."
