A PENSNETT road closure has caused travel chaos for commuters and Christmas shoppers, with disruption likely to continue into next week.

An emergency road closure is currently in place on Commonside between Bryce Road and Tiled House Lane to allow the repair of a burst water main.

The closure will be in place until Christmas Eve, potentially causing travel problems for shoppers travelling to and from Merry Hill.

The road closure caused travel problems for commuters last night (Tuesday) with drivers taking to social media to vent their frustration.

Furious members of the I'm From Kingswinford Facebook group took to the site to share their travel woes.

One member said: "30 minutes Kingswinford Cross to Pensnett Trading Estate, then gave up and went back home, it really was the road to hell!"

Another added that it took one hour and 20 minutes to travel from Wordsley to Russells Hall, while a fellow commenter described the situation as an 'absolute nightmare'.

Diversions are in place via Bryce Road, Bromley Lane, and Tiled House lane and vice versa.
