THE transformation of the Dudley Guest Hospital is now complete with the development of 127 new homes on the historic Tipton Road site.

The site's listed former Porter’s Lodge and administration building have both undergone extensive development to create Bourne Hall which hosts 127 homes alongside 29 luxury apartments.

The work, which began in November 2015, was completed by Wates Residential North who worked closed with Dudley Council and Homes England.

The project was dubbed one of the town's most 'strategic' regeneration schemes.

Butler's Crescent is named after Cradley Heath born architect, Albert Thomas Butler, who was responsible for modifying the previous Guest Hospital building.

39 of the homes will be available to rent from the council and 118 have been sold on the open market.

Richard Shroll, Managing Director of Wates Residential North, commented: “Our completion of Butler’s Crescent marks the conclusion of a complex but rewarding build programme and myself and the team are extremely proud of what has been achieved here. The restoration of the former Porter’s Lodge and Bourne Hall has been carried out with the utmost care and attention and it stands proudly at the heart of a diverse residential development rich in local heritage.”

Councillor Gaye Partridge, cabinet member for housing, added: “Butler’s Crescent is a real example of what we can achieve when working together. It is a flagship development for the borough and strengthens the regeneration of the Castle Hill area, creating a place where people are happy to live as well as visit.

“I’m really pleased to offer modern and affordable houses for people on the council's waiting list and know that the development will continue to provide homes for generations to come.”

Development of the scheme involved the community, with site visits for local schools and training programmes for jobseekers.
