Alex Goode admitted that Saracens aren’t playing to their full potential ahead of tonight’s crunch match with Sale Sharks.

Saracens have only tasted defeat once all season, but the full back believes his teammates can still go up a gear to chase down league leaders Exeter Chiefs.

Chiefs are ahead by just one point in the table and Saracens will have to be at their best once again to clinch the spoils against a Sharks side that have only lost once at home all campaign.

But Goode believes the resilience shown by Mark McCall’s men will stand them in good stead following the roaring comeback against Worcester Warriors last time out.

“To be 14-0 down so quickly and to come back from that is always good,” he told Saracens.com.

“We showed composure not to chase the game, make too many mistakes and get our heads down. We had chances to get a bonus point and our attack needs to be better to take those chances.

“The response from the week before was good and now we have a really tough game in Sale away who had a great win over Gloucester.

“We are not playing our best at the moment but the ability we have in that changing room makes us believe we can do something special.”

Saracens will be buoyed by the return of stalwarts Billy Vunipola and Liam Williams for the outing in Salford as the pair make their long-awaited comebacks from long-term injuries.

Vunipola hasn’t featured since breaking his arm against Glasgow Warriors in October, while Williams hasn’t played since injuring his hamstring.

Elsewhere, David Strettle starts on the wing, while Richard Wigglesworth is given the nod at number nine.

England international Jamie George and England U20 man Tom Woolstencroft are both rested for the trip enabling Vincent Koch and Schalk Burger to be handed starting berths.
