STAMBERMILL Scout Group is inviting members past and present and friends in the community to celebrate its 105th anniversary.
The group will be hosting a celebratory dinner and dance at The Copthorne Hotel, Brierley Hill, on Friday March 29 – starting at 7.30pm.
Now based on the Timmis Road industrial estate, Lye, the long-running scout group moved from its old wooden hut in Bagley Street to Timmis Road in 2012 and celebrated its centenary two years later with a visit from Wayne Bullpitt - the first UK Chief Commissioner for the Scout Association.
Since then the club has continued to go from strength to strength and chairman Martin Homer: “We’re going very well. We now run four nights a week – Scouts on Tuesday, Cubs on Wednesday, Beavers on Thursday and we have Guides on Friday – they moved down from Lye 18 months ago.”
Tickets for the anniversary dinner and dance cost £29 and are available from Martin Homer on 07980 264268.
Anyone wishing to find out more about joining the group can contact Mr Homer or check out Stambermill St Marks Scout Group on Facebook.
