NOMINATIONS are now open for this year's Dudley Youth Awards, in celebration of young people who have gone above and beyond in their contribution to their community.

The annual award ceremony will return on Friday April 26 at Dudley College, thanks to the efforts of Dudley Youth Council, with the support of Dudley Council’s youth service.

The event, now in it's 14th year, celebrates the achievement and contribution of youngsters aged 11 to 19 years and young people with a disability up to 25.

To submit a nomination, visit the Dudley Youth Service website or email Youth.ServiceCS@Dudley.gov.uk.

Councillor Sue Ridney, cabinet member for children and young people, said: "Dudley Council is delighted to support Dudley Youth Awards, which celebrates the incredible energy, talent and compassion of our young people.

"I would encourage people to come forward with their nominations so that we can officially thank and mark the great work that is going on all across the borough.”

Amman Ahmed, from Dudley Youth Council, said: "The Dudley Youth Awards has been a great success in our borough for many years now and we are thankful to everyone who nominates and spreads the word of DYA.

"We are calling all teachers, parents and youth to nominate someone who is good at art, sport or even enjoys looking after nature.

"We are very fortunate to have Dudley College as our venue for this year’s Musical Themed Awards. If you would like to sponsor us in any way, be it raffle prizes, food or even stage decorations, please contact us on dudleyyouthcouncil@gmail.com”

Categories include creative arts, sport, environment and contribution to school or further education.

There will also be awards up for grabs for young people who have overcome adversity and for those who have excelled in voluntary work.

Nominations close on February 15 and any person who lives or is educated in the borough can be nominated.
