A pensioner was stabbed in his own home by a masked gang who broke in during broad daylight.

The victim, aged 71, was attacked with a knife after robbers forced their way into his home in Titford Road, Oldbury,

He suffered cuts to his head, face and throat in the incident yesterday (Sunday) and remained in hospital today in a serious condition.

A BP garage in Lye was targeted by a gang of robbers, one of whom claimed to be a police officer.

The incident which happened at around 4am yesterday (Sunday February 10) saw five men enter the garage in Pedmore Road.

The gang fled with cash, cigarettes and alcohol after attacking a staff member.

A Dudley man's generosity will improve treatment for respiratory patients at Russells Hall Hospital, all in memory of his late wife.

Michael Bullen, from Oakham, has donated £8,000 to the hospital for the development of a new procedure room on ward C5 to care for patients with respiratory conditions.

Mr Bullen’s wife Liz was treated on the ward before her death on June 1 last year.

A motorbike rider was fighting for his life in hospital today after a collision with a car in Halesowen.

The 37-year-old rider hit a stationary car in Hawne Lane on Friday night at around 9.46pm.

He was resuscitated at the scene and rushed to the QE Hospital in Birmingham and he remained in a critical condition today (Monday February 11).

A crisis-hit Halesowen primary is to bring in a headteacher from another school to offer support to its own under-fire head.

The News reported last month how more than 330 people signed a ‘no confidence in the headteacher’ petition launched by parents at St Margaret’s C of E Primary School in Hasbury.

Following an increase in crime in Hagley fresh calls are being made for an urgent crime summit.

The move comes from Hagley councillor Steve Colella who says residents need some assurance so that "crime doesn't just become a way of life".

Charlotte Evans, from Giinger Boutique in Bromsgrove, decided to start raising money with her partner Rob, for the Birmingham Women's Hospital bereavement team after losing their daughter Erin, last year.

A study shows that Worcestershire is one of the worst areas in the west midlands for alcohol-related hospital admissions.

There were 12,607 alcohol-related hospital admissions in Worcestershire in the year 2017/18. The figure has risen year on year with 9,325 admissions in 2008/9 and 12,151 in 2016/17.
