A 'SUPER snow moon' is set to light up our skies today as it reaches its closest point to the earth.
The stunning full moon will reach its closest point to the earth at 9.06am in the UK and will be at its fullest at 3.53pm.
It looks set to be the biggest and brightest moon this year - but will only be visible after it rises at 5.11pm.
Each month, the full moon carries a different name signifying what is most associated with that time.
This is because centuries ago, lunar months were associated with the changing seasons rather than the solar year.
February was given the title of the 'snow moon' title because it was the month associated with heavy snowfall.
