A NEW exhibition celebrating the life of Duncan Edwards will open at Dudley Archives and Local History Centre next month following the success of last year's debut display.

The exhibition, based on the recently published book Black Country Boy to Red Devil by Jim Cadman, kicks off on April 4 and runs to June 28.

New photographs, press cuttings, football programmes, posters, artefacts and items of memorabilia relating to the Dudley hero's life and football career will be showcased, alongside a series of themed events.

A memorabilia day will take place on Tuesday March 12 where fans from the Black Country and beyond are invited to attend and share their memories, photos and memorabilia of Dudley's greatest son.

Players who knew Edwards from Priory Primary School and Wolverhampton Road School in Dudley will also be at the event to share their memories of the Manchester United star.

Rachel Brown from Dudley Archives and Local History Centre said: “We’re looking forward to hosting another Duncan Edwards Exhibition. Last year’s exhibition was extremely popular with a wide variety of audiences and unearthed memories, stories and documents that we were previously unaware of. It was lovely to hear from so many people who had known Duncan personally.

“We’re excited to see the new items to be included in the upcoming exhibition as well as the additional treats that the Duncan Edwards Tribute group have in store for fans and admirers.”
