A MAIN road in Brierley Hill remains closed to traffic after the roof of the old Pulse nightclub was declared structurally unsafe.
Dudley Road has been closed from its junction with Level Street to the junction with Venture Way due to the structural damage to the roof of the former nightclub building following high winds on Saturday (March 9).
The road will remain closed while work is carried out on the roof which traffic bosses are hopeful will be repaired within the next two days.
Meanwhile - traffic is being diverted via Level Street and Venture Way and vice versa.
Councillor John Martin, Cabinet Member for Highways and Environment, said: “The road adjacent to The Pulse nightclub building was closed by police and fire on Saturday afternoon after several timber roof sheets were blown off in the high winds.
“Our highways officers met with an industrial roofing contractor on Sunday and have instructed them to take the rest of roof off, to secure the property, as a matter of urgency in order to re-open the road.
“The owners of the building are aware of the situation.”
