FOUR kind-hearted Dudley residents will brave the high winds of Storm Gareth to perform a 13,000ft skydive in aid of local causes this weekend.

Shaz Saleem, Cllr Laura Taylor, Jack Smith and Jesse Perkins will freefall from a stomach-churning height of 13,000ft at Hinton Airfield in Northamptonshire on Saturday March 16.

They will reach speeds of up to 120mph, before the parachute kicks in and they sail back down to the ground from 5,000ft.

The quartet will be raising funds for the Mayor of Dudley's three charities: White House Cancer Support, Headway Black Country and The Hope Centre.

Each year the Mayor chooses charities to support and selects ambassadors to help with fundraising.

Shaz Saleem said: “These charities do brilliant work and as an Ambassador to the Mayor of Dudley I’m very proud to be supporting them by taking part in a 13,000ft sky dive."

Cllr Laura Taylor, who represents Belle Vale on Dudley Council, said: "I’m pleased to see so many people donating to such good causes already. I’m delighted to have had the chance to work alongside the Ambassadors to help raise money, and I’m very much looking forward to taking part in the skydive, and I hope we can continue to raise some money!”

Councillor Alan Taylor, Mayor of Dudley added: “I wish them all the best and they deserve sponsorship for such a brave event in order to raise money. This year I have been raising money for three charities. These are The White House Cancer Support, Headway Black Country and The Hope Centre."
