ANOTHER woman has been injured today (Tuesday) in an accident on the escalator at the Cornbow Shopping Centre in Halesowen.

West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed it was called to the centre at 11.48am this morning to reports that a woman had fallen on the escalator.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We sent two ambulances to the scene and treated one woman for potentially serious injuries.

"She was taken to Russells Hall Hospital."

Just yesterday four people were injured - two women seriously - on an escalator at the centre.

Cornbow Shopping Centre manager Eve O'Connor said: "Unfortunately the lady took a shopping trolley full of fruit and veg onto the escalator and it knocked her off the escalator step.

"Our thoughts go out to the lady who had the unfortunate accident today."

Eve added: "If people do feel unsure about using the escalators we have three lifts available which are adjacent to the toilets in the corner by Asda.

"There are other options available for people to use."
