A HALESOWEN pre-school is celebrating after being rated 'good' in all areas by Ofsted.

Playzone Pre-school, based at Overend Methodist Chapel, received a glowing report after an Ofsted inspector visited on March 27.

The nursery in Banners Street looks after 18 children aged two to four, from Monday to Friday during term time. Sessions run from 9am until 3pm.

Inspector Beverley Devlin rated the pre-school as good in effectiveness of leadership and management, quality of teaching, learning and assessment, personal development, behaviour and welfare and outcomes for children.

Her report, which can be read in full at http://bit.ly/2Gq3B76, states: "Staff place a high importance on promoting children's communication skills.

"They work at children's level, promote good eye contact and extend children's learning through questioning and modelling of skills.

"Staff offer children a balance of adult-led activities and free play that appeals to their interests and helps motivate them to learn."

It adds: "Children form strong bonds with all staff, which helps to support their emotional well-being.

"Behaviour is good.

"Staff are calm and positive role models. Children respond well to praise.

"They learn to play alongside one another and are supported to share and take turns."

Manager Alison Hill said she was "really pleased" with the report.

Alison said: "The inspector had a lot of positive things to say about Playzone.

"She took time chatting to the children, staff and parents and we were able to demonstrate in depth our skills and knowledge of good early years practice.

"I’d like to thank the parents for all their lovely positive comments to the Ofsted inspector."

The report states that to improve the pre-school could provide a chance for parents to regularly share information in relation to children's learning at home and "extend opportunities for staff to reflect upon their learning experiences and share best practice across the team."

The pre-school employs five members of staff.
