A BANK in a village centre was robbed this morning.

Police are searching for a man who entered Barclays bank in Storrington at 11.10am.

He went into the Old Mill Square branch of the bank and demanded cash, claiming he had a weapon.

However, no weapon was seen.

A Sussex Police helicopter flew over the village as officers searched for the suspect.

He is described as black, in his 20s, wearing a dark parka jacket and wearing a hat or a hood. He was very quietly spoken.

The bank is currently closed, with a notice on the door saying it could not open "due to circumstances out of our control".

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have seen the man as he left the bank is asked to report online or call 101 quoting serial 420 of 25/04.
