IN SANDWELL the Brexit Party - led by former UKIP leader Nigel Farage - has gained the most votes in the European Parliament elections.
The party gained 21,924 votes - the Labour party followed a close second, with 21,335 votes, with the Conservative and Unionist Party gaining a paltry 3,519 votes in response to the government's failure to deliver Brexit.
The turnout in the borough was 28 per cent. A total of 60,341 votes were cast, with 270 rejected papers.
Sandwell Council announced the results which were:
The Brexit Party - 21,924; Labour Party - 21,335; Liberal Democrats - 4,323; Green Party - 4,049; UK Independence Party (UKIP) - 3,550; Conservative and Unionist Party - 3,519; Change UK - The Independent Group - 1,371
The results have been submitted to Birmingham City Council to be added to the rest of the region's votes.
The full results, for the West Midlands region, will be published by @BhamCityCouncil.
