ONE of the seafront’s most identifiable hotels is planning a multi-million pound refurbishment.

The owners of Brighton’s Metropole say they will consult the public soon on their plans for a “refurbishment and rejuvenation of the hotel and surrounding area”, but have remained tight-lipped about the exact plans. Owners of the Hilton, Topland and developers First Base, yesterday announced that they were “revealing plans to invest in seafront regeneration”.

William Davies, director at Topland, would only disclose that their plans represented a “considerable investment” but would not reveal the scale of spending planned. He added:” The plans will support the city’s intention to enhance its reputation as a top tourist destination and help its economy to evolve from being seasonal to one that is sustainable throughout the year.”
