PLAYERS are needed for a marathon 24-hour darts marathon at a Stourbridge pub for Sedgley based sight loss charity Beacon.

Brewers Fayre on Birmingham Street will host the mammoth challenge on Friday June 7 from 8pm until 8pm the next day.

It is hoped each player taking part will raise a minimum of £100 in sponsorship.

The pub will provide free food for the late night players and family and friends are invited to cheer the participants on.

Beacon Fundraiser, Josh Sandhu, explained: “We wanted to create a fun event for people of all abilities to take part in and enjoy without breaking a sweat. Players can play for as long or as little as they want and we welcome players of all levels. To host a darts marathon for 24-hours is going to be a challenge, but I am sure the local community will get behind us and help us succeed.”

Beacon CEO, Lisa Cowley, added: “Beacon help people living with sight loss lead full, active and independent lives. The funds raised at this event will help support our charity and the services we offer such as inclusive sports, days out for our customers and making sure IT is accessible for all - just £30 could provide an hour of IT training to help a person with sight loss live more independently. This is a great, really fun way to help us and support your local pub."

Josh added: “We will support every player with a sponsorship form and are asking them to try to raise a minimum of £100. It promises to be a fun packed evening and hopefully we will get to see a few 180s and maybe even a nine-dart finish. We want to thank Brewers Fayre Stourbridge for hosting the event and we can’t wait to see you all there.”
