ARMED police arrested a man who pointed a 'gun' at a driver during a terrifying road rage incident in Rowley Regis.

Firearms officers swooped on Cakemore Road at around 12.30pm on Saturday (June 15) and arrested the 38-year-old man who pointed what looked like a handgun at his victim.

The firearm turned out to be a BB gun and the man has been released pending a police investigation.

The Firearms Operations Unit tweeted: "Have just arrested a suspect who thought it was appropriate to point a handgun at a member of the public during a road rage incident.

"It transpired that it was a BB gun, but would you know the difference if it was pointed at you ? I certainly wouldn’t. (JD)"

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "Armed officers were called to Cakemore Road, Blackheath, at 12.30pm to reports a driver was threatened by a man with a gun.

"The suspect was later arrested for possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear and intimidation.

West Midlands Police said today (Monday): "A 38-year-old man has been released pending further investigation."
