REDS boss Ian King has been quick to assure supporters this week that work is well underway in building a new squad for the coming season.

King was eager to allay any fears by insisting: "I got a squad of players that is coming together quite nicely.

"Things are happening and signings are imminent.

"We're having a get-together this Saturday and once we've got two or three training sessions under our belts, I'll be able to start making some announcements once I've assessed the situation.

"Supporters shouldn't be worried. There has been a great deal of work going on behind the scenes and I've been talking to numerous agents and players.

"We cannot officially sign anyone until July 1 in any case but there is a plan in place."

King is aware there is a big rebuilding job to be done at Redditch United and added: "I'm not expecting to see too many players back from last season.

"I think we've lost at least eight who have followed previous manager Paul Smith to Halesowen Town while Richard Batchelor has joined Mickleover Sports.

"Some of the remaining players from last season are keeping their options open, but that said, I'm expecting a good turn-out on Saturday."

King was quick to add: "I'm fully aware of the market in which I have to work in and as I've mention previously, I'm comfortable with the resources in which I have to work with.

"I'm also happy to keep things under the radar at the moment but there is definitely no cause to panic. I should have something to confirm within the next 10 days."
