A BRAND new children's emergency department has been officially unveiled at Russells Hall Hospital- with the help of some very famous toys.
Woody and Buzz from the Toy Story series dropped by the hospital to open the new children's emergency department at a grand unveiling last week.
The opening party came together thanks to the contributions of volunteers and local businesses, with Bernard Moseley Kids Entertainment providing the star attractions of Buzz and Woody.
Students from from Midlands Academy of Musical Theatre provided the entertainment with songs from the Toy Story movies.
Staff nurse Denise Walton brought the balloons, while cakes were provided by Deborah Hadley at Dott About Cakes.
Members of the public donated games consoles, toys and games for the new ward in response to a Facebook appeal.
Matron Rachel Tomkins said: “Our paediatric ED is going to infinity and beyond! The new children’s area is more spacious, brighter and gives our youngest patients a much better environment. We are seeing increasing numbers of young patients coming to ED so this was very much needed.
“We have received very kind donations of games consoles and TV from the public following a Facebook appeal and these are very popular in the area, so we would like to thank everyone who has contributed.”
