FLAMES were seen billowing over Lye this morning (Thursday July 18) after a fire broke out at a scrapyard.
The incident happened in Bromley Street and saw firefighters from Haden Cross and Smethwick called out at around 6.45am.
A spokesman for West Midlands Fire Service said there had been a fire in a 20-foot metal and wooden container at the back of a scrap yard.
After putting out the flames, firefighters used thermal imaging cameras to ensure there no hot spots remaining - and the drama was over by 9.18am.
It is believed to have been the second fire at the site in the last few weeks.
