DUDLEY Zoo will host a series of events next week celebrating all things bugs, in a bid to dispel myths surrounding insects.
Visitors are encouraged to turn detective and go on a bug hunt around the 40-acre zoo site to get up close and personal with invertebrates.
The Big Bug Bonanza kicks off on Monday August 5 until Sunday August 11, with events taking place in the farm barn between 12pm – 12.45pm and 2.15pm – 4.30pm and the Discovery Centre at 1.15pm each day.
Youngsters can enjoy bug-related colouring activities in the barn, where they can also learn how to make their own bug hotels at home.
Chris Leeson, DZG Conservation Officer, said: "“Insects are incredible and they’re so important to the environment around us and Big Bug Bonanza is a great way for us to raise awareness and hopefully dispel some of the myths people have towards inverts.”
The zoo hosts a variety of invertebrates, including stick insects, tarantulas, Madagascan hissing cockroaches and a newly arrived colony of 3,000 plus leaf cutter ants.
