ARSONISTS set fire to vehicles at a scrap yard in Halesowen in the early hours of this morning.

M A Motors on the corner of Green Lane and Long Lane was targeted - with police now investigating the incident.

A local resident called 999 at around 3.40am after being woken by loud bangs. 

Vicki Jayne Raxster recorded the video above which shows smoke billowing from the scene.

Ten firefighters fought the flames with around four cars well alight.

A spokesman for West Midlands Fire Service said: "We were called to a scrap yard in Green Lane, Hurst Green - we sent two fire engines with ten firefighters.

"We got to the scene within five minutes of the 999 call.

"We had a call from someone who lived nearby who was woken by a loud bang and could see the a lot of smoke.

"When our crews got there they said it involved around four cars well alight in the rear of the scrap yard.

"The police also attended, as we believe it was started deliberately."

A spokesman for West Midlands Police confirmed officers are treating the incident as an arson attack.

Witnesses can call police on 101 quoting incident number 321 of October 8.
