TALENTED Taekwondo members from Wyre Forest covered themselves in glory at the North Midlands Championships which took place in Nottingham.

A magnificent seven strong Wyre Forest squad returned with a wonderful haul of 15 medals.

Instructor Katie Billingham led from the front by winning four medals while assistant instructor Chris Raymont-Bishop collected three more.

Both picked up medals in the individual patterns and then went head-to-head in a partners pattern events.

The instructors also teamed up with two of their black belt juniors, Finlay Evans and Natasha Weston-Riley.

The ladies proved victorious while the men had to settle for bronze following an extremely close play-off for silver.

Both juniors also took bronze medals in the synchronised pattern event, with Finlay Evans just missing out on another bronze in the individual pattern and power event.

The medals continued to flow with Katie Billingham striking gold in the foot power and a bronze for hand power.

Not to be outdone, Chris Raymont-Bishop also bagged a gold medal in the hand power event.

There were more medals in store for Wyre Forest's Munn family.

Mighty mum Georgina Munn won a gold medal for her pattern performance and then took bronze in the sparring.

Clearly inspired by their mum, sons Elliot and Isaac took part in the flying side kick competition and claimed silver medals in their respective categories.

A proud Katie Billingham claimed: " It was a great day for the club. We ranked among some of the best in the country with everyone excelling their own expectations".
