STOURBRIDGE theatregoers should consider themselves invited to the musical of the season at the town hall.

Oliver! is being presented by Stourbridge Operatic Society from this Sunday (October 20) to Saturday October 26.

Audiences can expect to see the society’s trademark energetic ensemble numbers, a stellar cast of principals and a talented youth cast bringing to life the tale of orphan Oliver who falls in with Fagin’s gang of thieves and pickpockets on the streets of Victorian London.

Tickets can be booked online at https://seaty.co.uk/saos-oliver.

Featuring all well-known and loved songs from Lionel Bart’s original production, including Food Glorious Food, Where is Love? and Oom-Pah-Pah, the production features an updated score from the award-winning 2009 West End show.

The show is set within the dingy underbelly of Victorian society and the revised, darker score paints a picture of the grisly and dangerous world of Charles Dickens’ original tale.

Many of the youth cast members have performed with SAOS’s youth theatre, but some will be making their stage debut including Harrison Eno, aged 10, who stars as Oliver.

Director David Shaw said: "We’re excited to present this best loved family musical, introducing some of the newest and youngest members of our society. "I’m sure that the show will leave the entire audience begging for more."
