VOLUNTEERS are being sought across the Dudley borough to help keep the streets safe.

West Midlands Police want to boost the number of Street Watch teams working around the borough, in a bid to keep it the safest borough in the West Midlands.

Street Watch teams are set up and run entirely by the community to be an extra presence on the streets, which police say helps prevent crime and boosts reassurance for the public.

Eight Street Watch schemes are already working across Dudley, where members patrol their local area during their own time.

Existing Street Watch teams across the West Midlands have already led projects to tackle anti-social behaviour, organise litter picks and create their own community newsletters.

Anyone interested in signing up to a local Street Watch scheme, or starting their own should contact the Dudley Partnerships Team via email at dy_partnerships_team@west-midlands.pnn.police.uk.
