FIREFIGHTERS battled a fire at a house in Dudley during the early hours of this morning (January 31).

Fifteen firefighters from Dudley, Tipton and Bilston stations were sent to a property on Himley Road, at around 2.18am.

Crews arrived at the scene in under three minutes to tackle the blaze.

Medics were also called to the house where they treated two people who were taken to hospital for checks.

A spokesperson from West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called by the fire service to reports of a property fire on Himley Road, Dudley. Two ambulances and a paramedic officer were sent to the scene. Two patients were given treatment on scene before being taken to Russells Hall Hospital for further precautionary checks."

A spokesperson from West Midlands Fire Service said: "The first engine got to the scene in under three minutes.

"The stock message came in at 2.45am. The incident involved a fire in a kitchen in a terraced house.

"All persons had exited the property prior to our arrival."
