A NEWLY renovated Specsavers has been unveiled in Dudley after 34 years in the town centre.

Dudley North MP Marco Longhi and Specsavers founder Dame Mary Perkins officially opened the new-look store on Castle Street, which boasts brand new technology.

The new branch includes a new clinical area with eight optical and audiology testing rooms.

An OCT (optical coherence tomography) scan has also been installed to help detect and manage eye conditions like glaucoma.

The new technology is able to make diagnoses which previously would have required a hospital visit.

Gurdeep Dosanjh, store director, said: "The refurbishment and addition of OCT is great news for the store and for Dudley. We’ve been a part of the town for 34 years and this investment shows our continued commitment to the high street and our community.

"An OCT scan enables us to view the eye in more detail than ever before. This hospital-quality technology helps to detect treatable eye conditions such as diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration much sooner."

Hussnan Ejaz, the store’s optical director, added: "We were also lucky enough to have Dame Mary and our local MP here to cut the ribbon and celebrate with us. The team are looking forward to welcoming in new and old customers and we hope that they enjoy the new store experience and testing facilities as much as we are."

The store on Castle Street is open now.
