THERE are now 19 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Dudley and 15 in Sandwell, according to official figures which show more rises.

Cases confirmed by Public Health England reached 19 in the Dudley borough and 15 across Sandwell as of Saturday, March 21.

This was up from Friday (March 20) when there were 18 cases in the Dudley borough and 11 across Sandwell.

Dudley and Sandwell remain in the lower half of the table of local authorities, which is headed by Hampshire with 138 cases.

Yesterday, the UK death toll hit 233 with 5,018 coronavirus cases confirmed.

This was up from Friday's figures which showed there had been 177 deaths with 3,983 coronavirus cases confirmed.

So far eight people have died in Dudley and there has been one death in Sandwell.

All of the people who died had underlying health conditions.

As the Government is no longer testing people who are self-isolating with mild symptoms, many cases may not be detected.
