FRIENDS, family, students and colleagues have been left devastated at the death of a Quarry Bank teacher who died after being diagnosed with coronavirus.
Kate Fox, a teacher at Thorns Collegiate Academy, passed away yesterday (Thursday April 2) after being admitted to hospital a week ago - having been diagnosed with the deadly COVID-19 which is believed to have exacerbated underlying health issues.
The popular teacher worked at Thorns for more than 20 years and was "much-loved and respected by her students and colleagues and will be very much missed by everyone" - a statement on the school's Facebook page said.
Her death has been described as a "tragic loss" for the whole school community.
The school's Facebook page is awash with tributes - with colleagues and former students expressing their sadness, describing her as "one of the best teachers" and saying she will "never be forgotten".
