POLICE issued a warning notice to a youth on a moped causing a nuisance in a Rowley Regis park which is plagued by anti-social behaviour.

Officers caught the youth riding a moped in and around Britannia Park yesterday (Sunday).

They tweeted: "Sct 59 warning issued today by PCSO King to a youth seen causing asb on a moped in and around Britannia Park, Rowley Regis, this means if the same youth is caught again causing asb in any vehicle in the next 12 months then this vehicle can be seized #intherightplaces."

Temporary CCTV cameras were installed at the park by Sandwell Council in June 2019 after more than 650 people signed a petition saying it was plagued by crime and had become a no-go zone.

Many said they were too scared to use the park because of incidents of people being threatened at knife-point, robberies, sexual assault, anti-social youths on motorbikes intimidating people, drug paraphernalia left about and use by drug dealers.

The cameras were set to be reviewed on a monthly basis.

Scott Sexton, who lives in nearby Regis Road, started the petition.
