PROPOSALS for up to 150 homes in Buckley have been met with concerns.

Clwyd Alyn Housing is proposing to seek outline planning permission for the development, on land off Well Street.

Cllr Arnold Woolley said: "This would be a loss of good quality arable land - we have lots of brownfield land that can be built on. It is not necessary to take up green space.

"The land itself is part of a protected area between Buckley, Mynydd Isa and Mold which stops the whole thing turning into 'Muckley'.

"The land is sometimes flooded and is not the best to think about building on. "Well Street also has a bottleneck towards the Nant Mawr Road junction end and Rose Lane has no footpath so it is dangerous for pedestrians to add this volume of traffic."

Cllr Woolley said he also has concerns about the level of infrastructure available for the scheme - with schools, doctors' surgeries and dentist practices being "at capacity".

A draft design and access statement, available online via the scheme's consultation website, explains: "The site adjoins the southern boundary of the build up areas forming Buckley and Mynydd Isa and is identified within the current local development plan for future housing commitment.

"The proposed dwellings will be a mix of detached and semi-detached with some small terraced or apartment blocks.

"They will mostly be two-storey with scope for up to 2.5 stories at the bottom of the site where they will act as a focal point for arrival at the scheme and for assisting wayfinding.

"Housing densities will be consistent across the site and comparable to housing densities in the surrounding residential areas, with areas left for public open space.

"The vision is to provide a well designed and sustainable development that retains the sites existing features and creates an attractive design which will sit seamlessly along side the existing residential areas on and around Well Street."

Residents are being invited to have their say on the scheme. Opinions can be submitted until close of business on August 28 via info@plplanning.co.uk, by post or via the consultation website: https://www.plplanning.co.uk/wellstreet

According to the website, the outline planning application expected in September.
