AN attempted murder investigation has been launched after a victim was attacked by a large group in Wylds Lane, Worcester.

So far six arrests have been made including one for attempted murder. Four people have been charged with attempting to cause grievous bodily harm.

Police have only just revealed details of the attempted murder that took place at around 4.15pm on Sunday, August 2.

The victim, a 21-year-old man, was at the junction of Vincent Road and Wylds Lane when a number of people got out of two cars and assaulted him.

The victim suffered serious injuries in the attack and went to hospital.

Detective Inspector Tony Garner said: “We’ve been carrying out a significant operation to identify and locate suspects since the incident happened.

"As a result we’ve made six arrests over the last few days, with the final arrest made last night (Monday night).

"We are now at a stage in the investigation where we can turn to the local community and ask for their help.

"If you were in the area and you witnessed the incident or saw two cars, a red Mercedes and a burgundy Mercedes, acting suspiciously then we want to hear from you."

The arrest on Monday night was of a 32-year-old man, from Smethwick, on suspicion of attempted murder. Police have not named this man and he remains in custody.

Four Birmingham men, all from Poplar Lane in Smethwick, were earlier charged with attempting to cause grievous bodily harm in connection to the incident.

Aurica-Marian Muti, 18, Christi-Daniel Stefanescu, 19, Ionut-Alexandra Tudor, 18, Remus-cosmin Vladutoaia, 24, all appeared at Kidderminster Magistrates Court on Saturday (August 8), and were remanded in custody.

Meanwhile a 31-year-old woman, also from Smethwick, was arrested last week in connection to the investigation, and has been bailed to return to the police station at a later date. She has not been named.
