A MAN has been jailed for 20 weeks for snatching a woman’s handbag in Dudley town centre and assaulting a police officer.
Dainis Davis, of Farthins Road, Dudley, was found guilty of stealing the woman’s bag and contents at Birdcage Walk on June 28.
Magistrates also found the 37-year-old guilty of assaulting a police officer in Dudley on June 30.
Appearing at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court via live link on September 4, Davis was handed a four-week and a 20-week sentence for the offences, to be served concurrently.
The court heard he assaulted a public servant in an attempt to evade detection and failed to attend court for the trial.
Magistrates also ordered Davis to pay £220 in compensation.
