WHITCHURCH Town Council has welcomed a new councillor to the fold.

At the town council's full council meeting, held virtually on Thursday, September 17, Will McDonnell made the case for why he should be a town councillor.

After a brief discussion Cllr McDonnell was co-opted onto the council.

Cllr McDonnell has lived at Whitchurch since 2010. He says as a councillor his primary interests are all things to do with the environment, the look and function of the town, especially the high street, and the campaign for a new medical centre.

"Having gained degrees in Business Studies and Economics, I began his career with three multinational companies in business planning and financial analysis," said Cllr McDonnell.

"I am a Fellow of the Institute Of Chartered Management Accountants and a Fellow of the Institute of International Business Accountants.

"Using my experience in managing several subsidiary overseas companies and with a significant background in (multinational) business planning, governance, risk management, and deal negotiation, I believe I can help Whitchurch via the role of councillor.

"I became an author in 2010 and I have written six 'human condition' novels and one book of poetry.

"My interests are all sports, reading (usually biographies) and a wide range of arts and music.

"I lived and worked in France for two and a half years in the late 1980s and enjoy exploring there and other countries."

After joining to town council, Cllr McDonnell now serves on the planning committee and says he is happy to discuss constructive views via his email address at will.mcdonnellWTC@hotmail.com
