OSWESTRY will benefit from plans to extend National Fitness Day until the end of next week with free gym and workout taster sessions.

The move has come ahead of National Fitness Day – the annual celebration of physical activity – on Wednesday and Shropshire Leisure Centres will be offering sessions until Sunday.

Steven Darby, regional fitness manager says the plans are a treat for people who need it and is hoping to say plenty take it up.

“We love National Fitness Day so much, we’ve turned it into five days," he said.

"We’ll be offering a variety of free sessions, which are open to current members, ex-members and anyone else who fancies sampling the Shropshire Leisure Centre fitness experience.

“There’ll be a range of activities on offer across the five days, so I’d recommend checking in on our website or keeping an eye on our Facebook page, so you know exactly what’s happening and when.

"All sessions are bookable through our website, and it’s super simple to select and secure your spot.

“This event is our chance to really highlight the importance of physical activity. Right now, a healthy immune system is more important than ever, and one of the best ways to boost that system is by getting and staying active.

“If you’re new to fitness, what I’d say is, give us a go.

"We’re a welcoming centre, with a fitness team who understand what it’s like to make your first steps into a more active lifestyle. Each year for National Fitness Day, we see people returning to fitness, or trying things for the first time and loving it.”

The Shropshire Leisure Centres websites have all the information you need, including booking details, plus health and safety facts, also social distancing measure in place.
