A MAN in his 20s was taken to hospital with serious injuries after reports of a shooting in Cradley Heath last night.

Police have taped off the scene in Upper High Street as they investigate the crime scene this morning (Wednesday September 30).

A witness told the News: “Somebody’s been shot.

“Police have taped the road off and are waiting for forensics to come."

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 10.30pm last night to Upper High Street, Cradley Heath.

"An ambulance, two paramedic officers, a MERIT trauma doctor and critical care paramedic were sent to scene and found a man in a car with serious injuries.

"The man was given trauma care on scene before being taken on blue lights to hospital for further emergency care."

A car believed to have been involved in the drama was pictured with a smashed window - "slumped at the side of the road with the door open" - according to an onlooker.

West Midlands Police are now appealing for information following the incident.

A spokesman for the force said: "The man in his 20s was taken to hospital with arm and neck injuries and remains in a serious but stable condition.

"It’s believed this was a targeted attack and the man initially drove away from the scene of the shooting.

"We’re working to establish the exact location and circumstances around the shooting, and are appealing for anyone with information to contact us."
