POLICE have issued an urgent appeal for information and dash cam footage after a man was seriously injured in a crash on the M5 today (Thursday October 8).

A black VW Caddy struck the central reservation while travelling on the northbound side near junction two near Oldbury at around 5.50am.

An 18-year-old passenger from Birmingham was seriously injured and was today in a critical condition in hospital.

The driver and another passenger suffered minor injuries.

The 20-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and he has been released under investigation while police enquiries continue.

Another car was forced to take evasive action but was clipped by the VW Caddy and luckily the driver of that vehicle was not injured.
