A CRADLEY Heath school has closed its doors after a member of staff tested positive for COVID -19.

Parents were notified late last night that Temple Meadow Primary School in Wrights Lane would be closed today (Monday October 19) after "everyone's worst nightmare" happened and the school's site manager tested positive for coronavirus.

A letter to parents states the whole school is likely to remain closed all week.

Half term begins next Monday (October 26).

A letter to parents from the headteacher Cathy Walsh states that the site manager had been in contact with the assistant site manager.

The letter states: "Everyone’s worse nightmare as you will see from text messages late this evening we unfortunately need to close tomorrow due to a perfect storm situation of a confirmed COVID case with my Site Manager and now confirmation of contact with the Assistant Site Manager.

"This does impact on our overall COVID Risk assessment as both are essential to opening and closing a very complex site, critical to site safety and fire safety and of course COVID security.

"We have been lucky so far but I think we all appreciate the prevalence of COVID is high in the community so the inevitable has happened in that we will be closed (high probability all week).

"We are sorry for the inevitable inconvenience but I’m sure you can understand it has been a busy weekend for key staff talking to Public Health, tracking contact and evaluating the situation."

It goes on: "Everything you need to know about the situation will be communicated to you.

"Staff will be busy tomorrow morning on hosting home learning content on our school website www.templemeadow.com

"No work packs will be available as no one will be on site."
