TWO Dudley primary schools have closed until early November due to multiple coronavirus cases.

Jesson's CE Voluntary Aided Primary School and St Joseph's Catholic Primary School are both closed.

Jesson's CE Voluntary Aided Primary School, School Street, will reopen on after half term on Tuesday November 3.

A statement on the school's website reads: "It is not a decision we have taken lightly, but we feel it is in the best interests of all out pupils and staff."

A letter to parents (pictured below) states that "several members of our school community have tested positive for COVID-19."

Meanwhile St Joseph's Catholic Primary School in Hillcrest Road, Dudley, has also closed until Monday November 2.

Cllr Ruth Buttery, Dudley Council's cabinet member for children and young people, said: “Our priority remains ensuring that all pupils in Dudley borough are able to go to school.

"However, there will be times when staff absence due to Covid-19 means that it may be necessary to close the school for a short period.

"Clearly, this would be a last resort and we are continuing to work closely with schools and support head teachers when they have to make these difficult decisions.”
