Local MP James Morris is asking children in Halesowen & Rowley Regis to send in their pictures to mark this year’s Remembrance commemorations, which will be shared on his Facebook page throughout Remembrance Sunday.

Remembrance Sunday will take place on Sunday 8th November with Remembrance Day taking place three days later on Wednesday 11th November, marking 102 years since the First World War came to an end in 1918.

Entries should be sent to james.morris.mp@parliament.uk with each child’s name and age included.

James said: “I held a similar competition earlier in the year when we celebrated the 75th Anniversary of VE day back in May. Many local children sent me some great drawings which I was able to display on my Facebook page, and I hope that many will get involved again this time around.

“Reflecting on our past is and remembering those who have given their lives for our freedom is important, and it is really important to help youngsters engage with history. I look forward to taking part myself in the annual Remembrance Sunday commemorations, even if the Covid 19 restrictions means that things will look a little different this year.”
