A HALESOWEN gardener has contributed to a new book aimed at raising money for a children’s charity.

Darren Kench is appealing for people to support a project aimed at raising money for the Greenfingers charity, who create gardens for children to enjoy precious time with their family, friends and siblings in children's hospices.

Darren is one of a number of gardeners across the country who tuned into regular live broadcasts on social media by a renowned garden designer, Ann-Marie Powell.

Her My Real Garden project brought together gardeners from across the UK, who have stayed in touch since lockdown was eased, and have now collaborated on a book based on their lockdown lives.

“Many of us have submitted our lockdown survival stories and scenes from our real gardens; the very same gardens that we invited people into, when we dared to share them with Ann-Marie and friends on her Sunday Social broadcasts,” said Darren.

The project is half way towards its target and Darren said: “The more books we can presell, the more help we can provide to this wonderful charity.”
