TWO men have been arrested after stolen cars were recovered from a suspected chop shop in Brierley Hill this morning (Monday November 16).

The men were detained after officers patrolling in Station Drive at around 4am noticed suspicious behaviour and identified a stolen car.

A 29-year-old man was arrested immediately and the second, aged 20, was detained after a short foot chase.

A search of a nearby industrial unit found a further three stolen cars, plus vehicle parts which will be further examined.

The men were arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and they were taken into custody for questioning.

Police are urging members of the public to report garages or units they believe could be taking stolen vehicles and stripping them down for spare parts.

People can message officers with information about chop shops via Live Chat on the West Midlands Police website or by calling 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111. Callers will not be asked for their names and calls cannot be traced.
