TWO areas of Dudley are being targeted as high priorities to get people more active and fitter.

And this weekend is your last chance to give your views on how to help that happen.

An online survey is trying to find out what is stopping some people taking more exercise, so that projects to getting all of the Black Country fitter and healthier can be designed.

Eight high priority wards have been identified to help pilot schemes to tempt people to be m,ore active – whether its going for a walk of out to a gym or fitness class.

The two local areas the Castle & Priory ward and Woodside, Netherton & St Andrews.

For whatever reason, people living in these spots are less likely than average to be exercising, leading to growing health issues.

The online survey – which takes five minutes – asks residents to share their views, anonymously, on their physical activity levels, where they are active and what they consider physical activity.

Importantly, it also asks what reasons are stopping them from being active.

The findings will be shared to ensure councils, sports and leisure centres or clubs, health and social care providers and voluntary or community groups are working together to encourage physically active lifestyles.

Suzy Street-Hall and Angela Harvey Active Lifestyle Community Connector’s said: “We are seeking to get people active and moving more. To support this ambition we are trialling approaches across eight priority wards to develop a better understanding of resident needs in order to implement a community campaign to get people more active.”

Funded by Sport England, the Active Black Country group is leading the Black Country Moving project in partnership with the four Black Country Local Authorities and Local Council for Voluntary Service.

The survey is confidential and takes around five minutes to complete and closes on 8 March. https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/activeblackcountry
