POLICE recovered machetes and a stolen car after a pursuit across Dudley involving the police helicopter and dog unit.

The chase unfolded after officers from Brierley Hill Police Station spotted a stolen black Nissan Note at around 8.20pm last night (Wednesday).

The car, which police say has been involved in multiple crimes since it was stolen, failed to stop so officers gave chase - pursuing the car across Coseley and Tipton until the occupants abandoned the vehicle in the Brick Kiln Street area of Brierley Hill and ran towards a nearby canal.

The police helicopter and dog unit was drafted in to help locate the offenders but the search was unsuccessful.

Officers, however, recovered the stolen car and machetes, pictured, plus an Erbauer sanding tool which they suspect may have been stolen from a van.

Anyone who recognises the sander as theirs is asked to contact police on 101, quoting log number 4182 21/4/21.
